Revit Tutorial Requests

Hide Zero Feet in Revit Dimensions

To hide zero feet in dimensions(ex 0'-3"):

Select the manage tab.
Under the Settings section click "Project Units"
Now click the button in the Format column next to Length.
In the Format dialog check Suppress 0 feet.
Then OK out and you are finished.

Revit Wishlist

We have a direct line of contact with Autodesk regarding wishlist items. The following are a few items we would like to see included in the upcoming Revit release.

Fix the random dimension deletion problem.
Would like to have the ability to create custom family categories.
Ability to read host properties and parameters in families.
Allow volume parameter in families
Additional assembly improvements required.
Add sheet revisions to multiple sheets at the same time.

How to Speed up Revit - Part 1

Due to the extremely large file sizes in Revit, it is very important to keep your system running as efficiently as possible. The following items are a few ways I have found to boost performance.

1. Purge all families of unwanted items before loading into project.
2. Close hidden windows to minimize memory usage.
3. Use a flash drive and take advantage of the additional memory provided by the Readyboost feature.
4. Use worksets to unload objects from your local file.

Snap to Point in Revit

Have you ever had the problem of not being able to snap to a specific point in Revit? You zoom in as far as you can and Revit wants to align at a set angle or perpendicular to something else. Next time this happens, tap the TAB key on the keyboard to cycle through available points.
